White: Poetry Prompt - Write about a color without mentioning the actual color (only shades of it) in the body of the poem

White

Vanilla ice drips from the cone,
onto the old lace yarn,
a ivory igloo-like kitten yawns,
as a pasty human laughs.

A ghost screams "Boo!"
As the season starts to merge with snow
White smoke rushes from the chimney,
as a long bearded santa,
gives beige frosted cookies.

Magnolia flowers blossom,
as the Jasmine,
Lily of the valley,
and ivory rose does too!

Seashells lay on the beach as it's summer again,
the fine cream sand squishes between my feet,
watching the puffy pearl clouds float by.
I hold the eggshell book in my hand,
and a bright angel of hope crosses my mind.

Creative Writing Prompts

#218 List 13 good reasons to learn another language.
  1. When you go on a vacation in a foreign country you can easily read directions
  2. When someone comes over from another country you can talk to them and help them out
  3. You can make a lot more friends!  The more languages you know the more friends from all over you can have!
  4. You can get a boyfriend/girlfriend who might be your soul-mate, who speaks another language and it will be easy to communicate with them.
  5. You can communicate for business in another language, and possibly get more sales!
  6. When you're in public you can speak it when you want to talk about someone without them knowing.
  7. You can get paid a lot to be a translator in business meetings
  8. When you're applying for a job it looks better than only knowing one.
  9. Colleges love the fact that you can speak more than one language
  10. You can open your mind up to other ideas written in other languages
  11. You can be a foreign exchange student at another school and communicate with everyone there
  12. You can fluently sing songs in other languages, and it sounds so pretty!
  13. When you're upset you can vent your feelings and no one would know what you're saying!  It would sound like a bunch of mumbo-jumbo and you would end up feeling better in the end!

My dad absolutely loves to eat raw oysters.  One time when I was in Florida my brother Alex, my dad, my godfather, and I went to a restaurant called the Green Turtle.  My mom and aunt had gone out, so this is what we did for dinner.  At the Green Turtle there was a raw oyster bar. My godfather and Dad ate so many! The next day when they woke up they were both really sick! I felt really bad for them, but I wondered if it was worth it.  My family had to go on a plane back to Albany airport that day, so I felt worse for my dad.  Sometimes when I go out to eat and my dad orders oysters I ask if I can try one and my mom gets grossed out and tells me that it's slimy and goes right down your throat.  I wonder if oysters in the 1630's tasted like they do today.  Perhaps they'd be better today because of our technology!  I know the Scientific revolution was around the 1600's but they're certainly not as advanced as we are today!

"You Never Hesitate to Tackle the Most Difficult Problems" (157)

This is the one thing that separates the good from the excellent.  During the assembly during advisory last week we were shown a video about the extra degree and what it can do.  When you do this, knowing that you’re doing your best and always try it’s going the extra step.  When you do take any challenge that comes to you it shows your true character.   It’s one of the things that really show you will go the extra mile.  If you do try the difficult challenge and then fail, or do badly, at least you can say that you truly tried.  Trying is what gave us everything we have; such as light bulbs, and electricity, and computers.  Never hesitating to tackle the most difficult problems could also mean that if you were separated by lava and a river you wouldn’t think twice about crossing the lava. Therefore this could also mean that it’s a bad thing.

M, M, What begins with M?

Mad cow disease has been wrecking the country- tons of thousands of thousands of people have become sick with the disease.  Magnificent amounts of ambulances have been driving around in each state because of this.  Magic markers have been bought up, because so many people want to make signs so people are aware of what's happening.  Mayans have predicted this would happen; a piece of hieroglyphics were found in a cave telling the story of the mad cow.  Mistreatment of patients have been all over the news too; there are so many people that the hospitals are overflowing.  Mandatory moving of cows to space has been issued.  Moo-ve out of the way when the rocket ship blasts off!!

So we look away

So we look away
and talk about the weather
and pretend we're still strong.

Forgiveness isn't an easy thing,
The pain from those events,
trying to keep it in so you don't have to appear that weak,
Struggling stuggling stuggling

So we look away
and talk about sports
and pretend we care about it

Loving isn't an easy thing
the pain from those thoughts.
trying to bite your lip so the words dont fall out of your mouth
trying trying trying

So we look away
and talk about the other people we know
the ones who used to be ever so close
the ones who caused this pain.

Letting the words fall from your mouth isn't an easy thing
the relief of finally getting it out,
a weight lifted from your weighted shoulders
finally you speak your mind
and hope not to regret it.

10 Things You Didn't Know About Alyssa

1. I play 1st singles on the school's JV tennis team this year, and I am also one of the Tri-Captains.
2. I've drawn all of my life, and everyday I draw more so I can get better.  When I was 10, two pieces of my art got published into "Neopets: The Official Magazine - Issue 21 (Vol. 4, No. 6)" in the art gallery section.
3. One wall in my room is a complete collage, and I designed it all by myself.  I have 4 main posters, and small pictures with a cut out colored background surrounding them.  It really pops out at you when you walk in.
4. I own a Nintendo DS game in Japanese, and I've beaten it without knowing the language.  I absolutely love Japanese art, comics, games, cartoons, and the Japanese culture in general.
5. I own 5 bamboo plants, and I named the three that sit in my room. Their names are Ran, Miki, and Su.
6. One of my favorite types of music is K-POP, which is Korean Pop.  Super Junior is my favorite Korean band.
7. I love to make animations, edit videos, and make movies on my laptop.  I usually post the final product on YouTube so it can be seen around the world.
8. At the end of school a few months ago, my parents gave into letting me get a Cavapoo puppy, because our old dog, Cinnamon, had passed away a few months prior.  Our puppy's name is Blake and he is under a year old.
9. I've seen every episode of The Office at least 3 times each.
10. I love to make people laugh.
