N = Northern New Mexico College

Information taken from: http://nnmc.edu/

I would like to go to this college because
  1. Price: "12 through 18 credit hours (Full-time rate) will be $5105.40 total." Which is not a lot compared to other colleges astronomical price.  This total is for people who are not from New Mexico
  2. The theater in this college seems interesting.  There was a page for past theater productions and I saw a lot of variety in plays
  3. They offer a film technician program.  Film is something that interests me and the program "prepares you for entry level jobs in the craft and skills portion on the film industry." This would be an interesting job opportunity.
I would not want to attend this college because:
  1. It is so far away from my house! New Mexico is on the other side of the United States. I have never been out of my own time zone, why would I want to live in another?  If I wanted to contact my parents I'd have to figure out the time before calling so I don't disturb them!  All of my family live in New York, so I wouldn't want to be too far apart if something were to happen.
  2. The college is involved with Spanish.  You can tell because it's in New Mexico, and a lot of people speak Spanish there because it's close to the Mexican border.  On the website there is even an option for the whole website to be translated into espanol. I really do not like the Spanish language at all, and it pains me to hear the rough spoken words.  The language is just ugly, it does not sound pretty when spoken at all. Once I am out of high school I hope to forget completely about taking Spanish and never use it again unless I have to for a job.
  3. There is no Tennis standings on the college's athetlics page which means they must not offer to take it as a sport.  When I go to college I want to go to one where I can play tennis if I am good enough.  Tennis is my life, and without it I feel unhappy.
  4. I have not even ever heard of this college until I asked my friend what college starts with "n".  Obviously this school's reputation doesn't get out much.  I never heard a thing about it.  When I graduate and say where I went to I want people to be like "Oh, what a great school. You must be proud."
  5. " NNMC offers degrees in business administration, teacher education, nursing, radiography, biology, and engineering." They do not offer anything in art. I would like to pursue art in college and therefore I don't think Northern New Mexico College would be right for me
