TU Tuesday

http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Teen-accused-of-making-up-attempted-abduction-2204115.php

This article is about a 13 year old girl who lied to the police that a man in a red sedan tried to abduct her. The girl had said that the man tried to grab her arm and make her go into the car, near her middle school.  A policemen had said he saw the car follow the girl but he didn't see her grab her arm!  Just for lying to a policemen the girl will be charged with "misdemeanor as a juvenile."  If the girl wasn't actually lying it reminds me of this thing I saw on TV with Jaycee Lee Dugard.  In that the girl was taken from a car on her way to school, and the people who kidnapped her did awful things to her.  The girl who allegedly lied about the man attempting to kidnap her should have really thought out what she did before lying; I doubt she knows how serious it is.  If the girl saw the 1 hour special with Ms. Dugard I'm sure she would have been horrified at the thought of even girls being kidnapped.
Apparently near the Mont Pleasant Middle School many guys have been trying to harass middle school girls.  One of the reasons this article grabbed my attention because I didn't think that so many men would be harassing middle school girls.  Here in Guilderland I feel like it's really safe and I never thought about how it is in other schools. On Tuesday, a man was arrested -- the police don't know if the man who got arrested was the same man who allegedly harassed the girl who lied.

1. Why did the girl lie?  If she did, then did she have any mental problems/ learning disabilities?
2.  How do the parents feel about their child lying?  Are the parents to blame?
3. Why are so many guys trying to harass girls at Mont Pleasant Middle School?
4. Is Mont Pleasant Middle School in a bad area?  If it is why doesn't the school try to change the security/ bus situations around it?
5. Was the girl attention deprived and therefore felt she had to lie?
